Bridge Replacement Project Begins on Route VV in Macon County

HANNIBAL – Weather permitting, as early as October 15, a bridge replacement project is scheduled to begin on Route VV in Macon County, over BNSF Railway, located approximately 0.4 miles south of Arctic Road.

Route VV was closed in 2024 after a routine bridge inspection found deterioration and deficiencies in the structure. The route will remain closed from Arctic Road to Bison Street through reconstruction with signs and barricades in place. Motorists are advised to continuing utilizing alternate routes to reach their destinations.

A $3.5 million contract was awarded to Louis-Company, LLC, for a bridge replacement project. All work is scheduled to be complete by June 30, 2027.
